Why “Common Sense Gun Control” is a Slippery Slope

Gun control advocates often push for “common sense” measures, claiming they only want to prevent violence while respecting the Second Amendment. But history and logic show that every restriction is just another step toward disarming law-abiding citizens.

The Pattern of Gun Control

1. Background Checks – Sounds reasonable, but they create databases that can be used for future confiscation.

2. “Assault Weapons” Bans – A vague term that includes many common rifles, even though rifles are used in fewer crimes than handguns.

3. Magazine Limits – Criminals don’t follow capacity laws, but they do leave law-abiding citizens underarmed.

4. Red Flag Laws – No due process. Anyone can accuse you, and your guns can be taken before you even defend yourself in court.

What the Founders Intended

The Second Amendment wasn’t written for hunting—it was meant as a safeguard against tyranny. The government shouldn’t be the only entity with force. The more we give up in the name of “safety,” the more control we hand over to those in power.

Real Solutions to Gun Violence

Instead of restricting rights, we should:
✅ Enforce existing laws against criminals.
✅ Improve mental health care.
✅ Allow responsible citizens to defend themselves.

Gun control doesn’t stop crime—it only disarms those who follow the law. Freedom requires vigilance.
